GOLFaktuell: Dr. Schubert, what exactly happens with a herniated disc in the lumbar spine area? dr Schubert: In the case of a herniated disc, parts of the gelatinous core escape into the spinal canal through tears in the fibrous ring. The sections between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae (L4 and L5) or between the fifth lumbar vertebra and the first sacral vertebra (L5 and S1) are often affected.

Ms. Wilfinger has lived under this motto since early childhood. But for several years she has been suffering from increasing back pain. None of the conservative therapy methods brought any improvement, so that in the end she almost had to give up her beloved hobby, horseback riding.

An acquaintance gave her the address of the APEX Spine Center. After detailed investigation, the problem was found. The L5/S1 intervertebral disc was almost completely worn out and the cause of your sometimes unbearable pain.

Dr. Helmbrecht replaced the painful disc with an artificial disc replacement (disc prosthesis). After 3 months, Mrs. Wilfinger is back on the horse with growing enthusiasm and even takes part in horse shows again.

Continued success!!!

Artificial intervertebral disc makes cervical vertebrae strong

Not only the lumbar spine, but also the cervical spine is prone to painful dysfunction. Nevertheless, statistics show that those affected generally see a doctor much later than people with lower back problems. However, fears are unfounded: modern procedures now allow successful treatment that eliminates pain and maintains mobility. However, the prerequisite is that the (surgical) treatment is carried out by a
experienced specialist. ... lesen Sie mehr

Because no doctor helped! Three years of excruciating pain

Ms. Claudia B. (41) from Wörishofen went through a real ordeal when she made the pilgrimage from one doctor to the next for three years because of severe neck and back pain - without a diagnosis and with frightening prognosis. Even today, she reports full of emotions about the time she lived through, the fears and suicidal thoughts.
A Munich orthopaedist, for example, predicted that in the event of an operation she would need nursing care with a gastric tube and instead advised cortisone and painkiller infusions. Without making a diagnosis, a Munich neurosurgeon recommended a cocktail of morphine and psychotropic drugs. A Munich university clinic released the pain patient after a myelography (brain water test) with the diagnosis "You are not wrong" with stronger pain than before and referred the patient to the pain outpatient clinic to psychologists and psychiatrists. The morphine that Frau Brand had been taking for some time was no longer effective, doctors recommended higher and higher doses, and now Frau Brand could no longer lead a normal life; she lived in a hotel because she could no longer do her housework by herself.

As a former nurse, Ms. Brand did not want to simply accept this fate and looked for solutions on her own.

She was lucky that her former colleague, senior physician Christian Wagner and surgeon Dr. Michael Schubert, diagnosed two herniated discs in the neck by means of a magnetic resonance imaging and a detailed neurological examination. The result of the diagnostic imaging was later confirmed by a discography. Both intervertebral discs were symptomatic, ie they were causing the severe pain and loss of function.

Spine specialist Dr. Michael Schubert replaced the degenerative discs with two prosthetic discs. Ms. Brand has been pain-free since her operation and is back to life. The former nurse hopes to be able to return to work at some point - albeit no longer in the physically demanding care of patients, which probably favored her spinal problems. It is important to her that her story becomes known, because she suspects that her fate is not an isolated case, which is why she turned to magazines such as "Bild der Frau" or the "Münchner Abendzeitung".

We wish Ms. Brand all the best for her continued recovery and thank her for the openness with which she reports about her illness.

Stranded extreme athlete successfully operated on the neck with the latest minimally invasive (percutaneous nucleotomy) under local anesthesia
The adventurer couple Franziska and Rainer Ulm had been traveling around Europe in collapsible boats for more than 4 years when an acute herniated disc in the neck forced Rainer to take a forced break in Spain.

Plagued by pain, after several conservative attempts at relief and numerous examinations in Spain, Rainer Ulm - thanks to intensive internet research - found Dr. Michael Schubert the desired, minimally invasive solution.

Dr. Schubert , himself an enthusiastic athlete and Ironman, was immediately enthusiastic about the extreme performance of the paddlers and offered to help quickly and unbureaucratically. On February 16, he operated on Rainer Ulm endoscopically on a herniated disc in the cervical spine.

Rainer Ulm was free of pain immediately after the percutaneous nucleotomy and was able to travel to his home town of Lichtenau for a short visit just one day after his operation and shortly thereafter start light rehabilitation training in Spain.

After a short break, the Ulms can soon start their journey via Spain and France to the destination port of Hamburg. You can find more information about her exciting journey at www.ulm-outdoor.de

Ori Ichaki – Israeli professional basketball player underwent disc surgery

dr Schubert & Ori Ichaki

dr Michael Schubert freed the 24-year-old from his symptoms in a 30-minute operation.
Ori Ichaki, a key member of Israel youth national team, recently turned professional and is the first Israeli player signed in Slovenia. The self-confident and versatile player turned out to be a real success story for the Slovenian team. However, in the fall of 2005 he injured himself during a game, tearing and prolapsing one of the lower intervertebral discs. The injury caused pain and severely limited performance, so the 1.95m tall forward opted for the quickest and gentlest solution, endoscopic prolapse removal.

Spine specialist Dr. Michael Schubert personally performed the procedure. Just one day after the successful operation, he was able to return the patient to his team pain-free and full of energy.

We wish Ori a speedy recovery and a successful 2006 season.

Six months after his disc surgery, the Dane was on the podium

A year ago, professional athlete Michel Boeriis suffered a herniated disc and it was unclear if he would ever be able to water ski again.
He didn't doubt for a minute that the endoscopic method was the best solution for him.

back specialist Dr. Michael Schubert . Dr. Michael Schubert performed a successful endoscopic operation about 8 months ago, during which the herniated disc was removed. After a short rehabilitation period, Michel Boeriis was able to return to work and train on water skiing.

Michael Boeriis on the further course: "Half a year after the operation I was already at the Danish water ski championships in 2007, which this year in
Herning took place. That's actually two championships that we're running. One is for your own age group and the Open DM is for
Women and men from all age groups who meet certain qualification criteria. I had a championship title in my age group (36 to 45 years)
to defend... and I won gold again this year! I also got gold in the open class, which makes me the best Danish slalom skier. In addition, I also won silver in the trick.:-)."

dr Schubert and the entire team congratulate Mr. Boeriis on his successful re-entry and wish him lots of fun on the water.
