Back pain is one of the most common widespread diseases:
Four out of five adults experience severe back pain at some point in their lives. Too often the ordeal ends on the operating table to be free of pain again, says back specialist Dr. Michael Schubert.

The Munich back specialist is certain that most of them shouldn't have back problems. Every year in Germany around 30,000 people with herniated discs go under the knife: "But eight out of ten operations are superfluous," warns the Munich spinal surgeon Dr. Michael Schubert. Only in a maximum of five percent of cases does the back pain come from the intervertebral disc.
