Leading through specialization

There has been considerable change during the last years not only in diagnostics (e.g. thanks to magnetic resonance imaging, MRI) but also in surgical possibilities. Whereas only a few years ago surgery was quite commonly carried out, we know today that a surgical intervention is indicated only in rare cases.

The team of the APEX SPINE Center did not only observe this development but we actively participated in this process. Our mission is to offer our patients the best possible diagnostics and the most efficient therapies. We can look back to more than 6000 successful minimally invasive surgeries.

We know that the most tissue-preserving treatment will significantly add to successful therapy. That’s why we specialized in minimally invasive endoscopic surgical techniques for treating your spine disease. Maintaining natural mobility and stability of the spine is our main focus as this is so very important for preserving or restoring the complex functioning of the vertebral column. This is the only way for long-lasting symptom relieve.

What is future for most of our colleagues is for us and our patients already daily routine. We are able to remove all herniated cervical, thoracic or lumbar discs endoscopically. Furthermore special instruments allow for minimally invasive widening of the spinal canal. This is done either with the so-called tube-technique from the back or endoscopically from the side.

Whereas patients with a herniated cervical disk will be offered by most surgeons a complete removal of the disk and subsequent stiffening or the insertion of an artificial disk replacement as unique surgical options, we are able to remove the herniated material endoscopically through a small skin incision under local anesthesia.

Aim of modern spine surgery is to restore the complex functioning of the spine as entirely as possible and by this means to release symptoms. With the conventional stiffening surgery this aim could be reached only partly. During the past years flexible disk implants have been developed that are able to provide stability and mobility just as their natural counterparts.

Artificial disk replacement forms part of most innovative spine surgery and finally provides the possibility for the patients to regain mobility and quality of life.
